About The Practicum

The Practicum

A two semester class for Creighton students, The iJay Practicum provides an exclusive opportunity for Creighton students to get hands-on experience running a retail business. Students are responsible for everything from inventory management to financial reporting to web and social media content. Marketing, Accounting, Finance, BIA, and Management majors all take roles that align with their coursework and career aspirations, contributing to the program immediately while also collecting valuable experience for the future.

 

The Members

 

Conner Dvorak

Conner is a junior on the Tech Team. He is from Omaha, NE, and is in his first semester of the practicum. He is majoring in BIA on the Business Analysis Track in the Heider College of Business. Conner is a member of Beta Theta Pi and has a Real Estate Internship at Union Pacific. He wanted to join the practicum to gain valuable insight into the daily operations of a business. After graduation, he wants to own his own small business.

Grace Teevan

 
Grace is a sophomore from Phoenix, AZ, on the Web Development and Branding Team. She is majoring in Marketing and Management in the Heider College of Business. Grace is involved in Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, a Heider Outreach Intern, and the Dean’s Fellows Program. She joined the practicum because she has always wanted to learn the behind-the-scenes of running and managing a business. After graduation, she wants to work for a startup and eventually start her own company.

J.J. Smith

 
J.J. is a senior on the Branding Team. He is a senior from Lawrence, KS, and is in his first semester of the practicum. He is majoring in Marketing on the Strategic Communications Track. Outside of the practicum, JJ is involved in Phi Delta Theta, Study Abroad Peer Ambassador, and CSU. He joined the practicum to apply his course concepts to a real business. In the future, he hopes to be a Marketing Analyst or Social Media Marketing Manager.

Kathleen McNeill

 
Kathleen is a junior on the Outreach and Recruiting Teams. She is from Dallas, TX, and is in her first semester of the practicum. She is majoring in Finance and Accounting on the Financial Analysis Track in the Heider College of Business. Outside the practicum, Kathleen is involved in Alpha Phi sorority, CSU Appropriations Committee, and is a Financial Analyst Intern with Renaissance Financial. She joined the practicum because she is eager to gain real business experience, and the practicum offers that experience combined with an educational aspect that excites her. In the future, her dream job is to be the Chief Financial Officer of Ralph Lauren.

Kaylee Van Handel

 
Kaylee is a junior on the Web Development and Data Analytics Teams from Westminster, CO, and is in her first semester of the practicum. She is majoring in Data Science and minoring in Computer Science, Digital Humanities, and BIA. Outside the practicum, Kaylee is involved in DREAM Scholars, Pi Beta Phi, the Honors Program, Hair Cell Research, and a Math and Computer Science TA. She joined the practicum to get hands-on experience and apply the skills she gained at Creighton in a practical way. In the future, Kaylee hopes to become a software developer or data analyst.

Pierson Maass

 
Pierson is a senior on the Outreach and Recruiting Teams. He is from San Jose, CA, and is in his first semester of the practicum. He is majoring in Finance on the Financial Analysis Track in the Heider College of Business. Pierson is involved in a fraternity and is a member of the Creighton Club Soccer Team. He joined the practicum because he wanted to be more involved in the Creighton community and make an impact on campus. After graduation, he wants to be a financial advisor.

Tate Engleson

 
Tate is a junior from St. Paul, Minnesota on the Finance and Accounting Teams. He is in his first semester of the practicum and is majoring in Finance on the Financial Planning Track. Outside the practicum, he is involved in Phi Delta Theta, Creighton Business Symposium, Dean’s Honor Roll for Social Responsibility, and interned at Pacific Life on the Sales Enablement Team. Tate joined the practicum because he wanted to take his knowledge of Finance beyond the textbooks, and the iJay is a great opportunity to learn how financial analytics are used in a company's operation. After graduation, he wants to become a financial planner and help others solidify their future.

Ashley Homegcoy

 
 
Ashley is a senior on the Data Analytics and Website Development team. She is a senior majoring in Business Analytics and Data Science. Ashley is from Plainfield, Illinois and joined the practicum to gain experience with different applications of machine learning and analytics tools. Outside of the practicum, she is involved in Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity and cancer research on campus. After graduation, Ashley plans to become a software engineer.

Brady Hall

 

Brady is a senior on the Outreach and Recruiting Teams. He is from Shawnee, KS and is in his second semester of the practicum. He is majoring in Entrepreneurial Management with a minor in Economics in the Heider College of Business. Outside of the practicum, Brady is the Social Chair of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He wanted to join the practicum to work with others and to see more about what it takes to run a business. After graduation, he plans to own his own business and help others create their own as well.

Cole Gamon

 
Cole is a junior from Spokane, Washington on the Finance and Accounting Teams. He is majoring in Finance and Accounting on the MAC Track in the Heider College of Business and is in his second semester of the practicum. Outside the practicum, Cole is involved in Beta Theta Phi, Alpha Kappa Psi, Investment Accounting Intern at Mutual of Omaha, and Dean’s Honor Roll for Social Responsibility. Cole joined the practicum to enhance his both financial skills and the quality of the iJay. After graduation, he will get his CPA, CFA, and begin working in Public Accounting in the Banking and Capital Markets sector.

Kamryn Coauette

 
 
Kamryn is a junior in the Heider College of Business majoring in Marking and a Graphic Design minor. She is from Alexandria, Minnesota and is a member of the Branding team. Kamryn joined the practicum to get a real world taste of what marketing and running a business looks like. Outside of the Practicum, she works at Madida Clothing Boutique and is a member of the Alpha Phi Executive Team. In her future, Kamryn hopes to work as a marketing and social media major.

Kate Lembree

 
Kate is a senior on the Branding Team. She is from Omaha, NE, and is in her second semester of the practicum. She is majoring in Finance and BIA: Information Technology and minoring in Spanish and Hispanic Studies. Outside the practicum, Kate is involved in Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, AKPsi, the Heider Business Senate, Fintech Practicum, and Dean’s Fellows. She joined the practicum because she loves learning from the perspective of a business and what it takes to run it. After graduation, she would like to be a systems analyst.

Moira Hale

 
Moira is a junior on the Web Development Team and Data Analytics and Outreach and Recruiting Teams. She is from Omaha, NE, and is in her second semester of the practicum. She is majoring in Finance and Business Analytics on the Financial Analysis Track in the Heider College of Business. Outside the practicum, Moira is involved in the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, Women in Business, Management Consulting Club, and Billing Intern and Hudl. She joined the practicum because it provides a valuable opportunity to apply knowledge from her coursework to real-world situations, enhance her professional skills, and prepare for her future career. After graduation, she would like to work in the Financial Consulting.

Noah Ralofsky

 
Noah is a member of the Finance team. He is a senior in the Heider College of Business, majoring in Finance with an Economics minor. He is from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and joined the practicum to learn more about how a business is run on the financial side. Outside of the practicum, Noah is a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and the Portfolio Practicum. After graduation, Noah wants to be a Financial Analyst.

Sebastian Ruccolo

 

Sebastian is a junior on the Finance and Accounting Teams. He is from Denver, CO, and is in his second semester of the practicum. He is majoring in Finance and Legal Studies on the Financial Analysis/Pre-Law Track in the Heider College of Business. Sebastian is involved in the Consulting Club as the Vice President, Catholic Student Organization, and Dean’s Fellows Program. He wanted to join the practicum to be a part of something that ultimately made me want to come to Creighton. After graduation, he is planning on going into mergers and acquisitions (M&A) corporate law, and eventually start his own private equity firm or work for a hedge fund in research and quant.
